Installation of card-reader
Card-reader with associated software and drivers are used to read the cards in Infobric Ease.
NOTE! The installation requires administrator privileges on related computers.
Instructions
Do not connect the card-scanner to your computer until the required software has been installed.
- Install the drivers.
- Install Simple Infobric Reader (alternative installer).
- Connect the card-reader to your computer.
- Start the card-scanner software by clicking the Start menu, open the folder Infobric and select Simple Infobric Reader.
Trouble-shooting
Sometimes the card-scanning software is unable to detect the presence of the card-scanner even though it is connected. This is usually due to the drivers not being correctly installed. This can happen if the card-scanner is connected to the computer during the software installation process.
To resolve this issue in Windows Vista/7:
- Click the Start menu.
- Open Control Panel.
- Click the Hardware and Sound.
- Click the Device Manager.
- A list of devices that are installed on your computer will be shown. Somewhere in the list you will find a device with an exclamation mark with the name USB-Serial Controller. Right-click on this device.
- Select Search automatically for updated drivers.
- Click the Next button until the wizard is complete.
To resolve this issue in Windows XP:
- Click the Start Menu.
- Open Control Panel.
- Click on Performance and Maintenance.
- Click on System.
- Click on Hardware tab.
- Click Device Manager button.
- A list of devices that are installed on your computer will be shown. Somewhere in the list you will find a device with an exclamation mark with the name USB-Serial Controller. Right-click on this device.
- Select Update Driver.
- Select No, not this time when asked if you want to use Windows Update.
- Click the Next button until the wizard is complete.
